K9 Klif has been working with the Armstrong County District Attorney’s office and handler Mark Heider since 2007. The 8-year-old German shepherd may need surgery to repair a ruptured disc in his back. Klif was injured in the line of duty in April of this year. While responding to bomb threats at West Shamokin High School, he slipped on slick ground and has been hurt ever since. Veterinary care to treat Klif’s condition is projected to cost $5,500 or more. The DA’s Office has been able to fund the staffing of Klif through a Department of Homeland Security grant, but simply doesn’t have enough money to cover the cost of the surgery and care. “He is the type of dog who just wants to work and play, and while his will is still there, his body just isn’t cooperating,” said Heider. 100% OF FUNDS RAISED from the sale of this shirt will be donated to The Armstrong County DA K9 Fund, set up by officer Heider himself.“We just want to get him better so he can get back on duty as soon as possible” He has an 80 percent chance of returning to work if all goes well. Meeting our goal of 150 shirts will raise a minimum of $2000 towards helping K9 Klif get the care he needs.
